It started with education, and grew into art.

How it started…

Katie has always had a desire to learn as much as she could about the natural world. As a kid you could find Katie turning over rocks in the garden to see what she could find.

It was no surprise that she made a career out of working with animals. After decades of working in the veterinary industry, it was that passion for learning that led Katie to teaching at a veterinary technology program.

To provide as much hands on experience for her students as she could, Katie started cleaning skulls and bones of various animals to use as teaching models in the classroom.

…How it’s going.

Katie used some spare bones to make a few pieces of jewelry for herself. Then the comments started rolling in! “How unique!” “Where can I get them?”

Katie works closely with select local pet stores to set aside any deceased pets for her to pick up. This is why many of the bones you will find in her jewelry are small rodent, reptile or bird bones. Occasionally, kind local customers will contact Katie to pick up deceased farm or wild life.

So she started making more jewelry to share with friends and family. Over time it grew into the business it is today. You can catch Katie at local weekend markets, or place an order online.
